An Adventure In Pottery
On the Road to Find Out.
If this title sounds familiar to you, it's because
it's the title of a Cat Steven's song, in which the words reflect my life
and my art. Pottery in itself seems limitless; what you think
. . . you can represent in clay. And many times
the clay represents you by it's daily nature. Joined with the
fire it becomes alive, a thing to speak, serve, or please.
I constantly stay passionate about what goes on in my studio.
I am a self - teaching potter (never wanting
to climax all that I can learn.) My favorite pot is probably the next thing
I do. Clay serves most of all my moods, and defines and refines them into
something that centers me. In wheel work any potter will tell you the centering
of the clay is key. The centering of the artist for me is just as important.
This brings me to God, his earth, his fire, his servant all brought
together. Like the seed in the earth, watered fed, and growing to bloom.
I am on the road to find out what is possible for God to do through me
and the clay. So my excitement about pottery is never abated, but instead
always peaked as I know something wondrous comes my way.
